CAFIA detected adulterated fruit filling for bakery products, 50% fruit was missing

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) revealed a case of significant adulteration of foodstuff Jablko GOLDEN 85%, fruit filling, with best before date by 5th November 2017. The product is used as a raw material for production of bakery and confectionary products.

CAIFA laboratory analysis confirmed that the filling contained lower content of apples than indicated on the labelling. The labelling contained information of 85g apples per 100g of the product”, however the product contained 46g of fruit/100g, i.e. by c. 50% lower content than indicated on the labelling by the producer.

The deficient lot was sampled at wholesale premises of company SEMIX PLUSO, spol. s r.o., K Rybníčkům 359, 747 81 Otice. Further investigation showed that Polish company LA VERNA SALES DEPARTMENT, Baczynskiego street 20A/17, 38-200 JASLO was the producer and supplier into the Czech Republic.

Indicating misleading information for customers and also consumers, the operator violated applicable legislation and will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person. The importer placed on market a total of 1,430 kg of the deficient lot of the foodstuff.
