Czech Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) did not release onto the market a consignment of peanuts in which an excessive amount of aflatoxins was revealed by laboratory analyses. The consignment in total weight of 20 tonnes contained 800 sacks of shelled unroasted peanuts of Chinese origin.
Information about the contaminated consignment was also conveyed to other EU member states by means of the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
The consignment of peanuts is under customs surveillance at the moment. Thanks to the CAFIA precautions the contaminated peanuts will not be released onto the European market at all. Therefore there is not any risk to consumers.
