CAFIA completed recertification of Quality Management System pursuant to ISO 9001

09/29/2014

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) completed the recertification process of the Quality Management System pursuant to the CSN EN ISO 9001:2009 Standard. The recertification was carried out by company Bohemia Certification. Not only the Headquarters, but also all seven regional Inspectorates are certified. CAFIA is the only supervisory body in the CR certified pursuant to the ISO 9001 Standard, which is applied to all its employees as well. The System also controls all processes associated with official inspection of foodstuffs. Formation of the Quality Management System was launched already in 2003.
Certified procedures unified for the whole Authority are beneficial not only to CAFIA, but also to the inspected persons, as procedures within inspection procedures or possibly administrative procedures are unified. Usual and extraordinary situations could be managed much better due to the structured system of managed documentation with clearly established bindings and responsibilities defined for every single position. “Well-established and fully applied Quality Management System enables CAFIA not only to carry out effective and professional inspection, but also facilitates systematic development and further orientation of the work. Despite considerable effort related to the preparation and establishment of the system and its maintenance in last years, I can say without any doubt that the decision to have the QMS introduced was right and beneficial” Martin Klanica, Director General of CAFIA, said.
