CAFIA closed store JIP for unacceptable hygiene conditions

12/03/2014

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected extensive occurrence of pests, foodstuffs damaged by mice gnaws, and also a dead rodent in the premises of company JIP východočeská, a.s. on Anglická street in Hrádek nad Nisou. Mice excrements were present not only on the floor, but also in the shelves of the premises among packaged foodstuffs, out of which some were damaged by mice gnawing. Further traces after presence of rodents and a dead one were found in the storage area. A thorough inspection of the place showed that pests may enter the internal area through a hole in the wall and insufficiently sealed doors without any problems.
Based on the facts detected on the spot, CAFIA imposed ban on using the premises due to serious hygiene deficiencies and ordered the operator to sort out the foodstuffs damaged by rodents, to carry out thorough rodent extermination and sanitation, and ensure its premises against pests. Until these measures are fulfilled, the premises will remain closed. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with company JIP východočeská a.s.
