CAFIA closed shop selling foodstuffs on MOL petrol station

04/27/2016

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) is authorised by the law to supervise sale of foodstuffs and meals on petrol stations.

During an inspection carried out on 25th April 2016 on petrol station MOL Česká republika s.r.o. based on Plaská 1843/70, 323 00 Plzeň, inspectors detected failure to comply with legal requirements for sale of foodstuffs. The premises were equipped neither with warm nor cold water supply and the staff had only a barrel with water, several movable containers and hygiene utensils on the floor available. There were construction works in progress to ensure hygiene background, however, the operator had no agreement with construction of water supply and despite this fact, foodstuffs were sold here. The seller thus violated the regulation on food hygiene, which, inter alia, provides for the conditions of the premises enabling maintenance and good hygiene practices ensuring safety of foodstuff on sale.

With regard to the mentioned deficiencies, CAFIA inspectors impose a ban on the use of the premises for sale of foodstuffs which remains applicable until the legal requirements are met. CAFIA will also initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the operator – company MOL Česká republika s.r.o.
