The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (hereinafter “CAFIA” only) took action at the premises of Penny Market seated on Edvard Beneš street in Pilsen. Within an inspection carried out today, CAFIA revealed presence of rodents and excrements at these food premises. Presence of pests is regarded as serious violation of hygiene legislation. Due to the above mentioned fact, the seller failed to ensure conditions that keep the food safe. CAFIA therefore ordered immediate closing of the store. At the same time, CAFIA ordered extermination, sanitation of food premises and its background as well as ensuring protection against access of pests. The store will remain closed until the imposed measures are fulfilled, which will be checked by a repeated inspection by CAFIA.
CAFIA is the only control body responsible for official inspection and imposition of measures following from food legislation as regards this type of stores.
