Inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority imposed today a ban on the use of premises of company Lidl Česká republika v. o. s. seated on Lorencova alej 191, Lanškroun.

Detected violations pointed out that elementary hygiene regulations were not observed. A significant amount of excrements of pests were present in the retail, in particular on the shelves among the foodstuffs. Paper boxes with foodstuffs were damaged by rodents' gnawing. The overall situation showed that the operator failed to ensure the premises against the access of rodents and failed to take appropriate measures for their elimination. The inspectors found impurities and dust in the storage and the conditions of the premises failed to ensure safe placing foodstuffs into circulation.

Apart from the ban on the use of the premises, the inspectors ordered the operator to put the premises into the compliance with legislation requirements, in particular to destruct contaminated foodstuffs, to carry out proper rodent extermination in co-operation with an expert company, to ensure the premises against the access of rodents, and to remove impurities. The premises will remain closed until these measures are fulfilled.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the operator. Presence of rodents in food premises is not safe in particular from the reason of the risk of dissemination of unsafe illnesses.
