CAFIA closed down retail with foodstuffs KAPA in Kolín

02/02/2015

During the inspection carried out today, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) revealed an extensive occurrence of rodents in the shop with foodstuffs of company KAPA s.r.o. based on Žižkova street in Kolín. CAFIA found an extensive occurrence of rodents’ excrements in the shelves and on the floor as well as wrappings of certain sorts of foodstuffs damaged by mice. Traps for rodents were placed not only on the floor but also directly among foodstuffs in the shelves, which is in direct contradiction with legislation.
Based on the facts given above, CAFIA stated serious violation of hygiene practices laid down by legislation and the retail was closed down on the spot. CAFIA also ordered the operator to carry out a thorough rodent extermination, disinfection and overall cleaning of the shop and the background including disposal of all foodstuffs affected by rodents. The operator is further obliged to ensure the premises against the access of rodents. CAFIA will lift the ban only after the imposed measures are met. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with inspected person.
