CAFIA closed down bistro in the centre of Brno because of unacceptable hygiene conditions

02/09/2018

Inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected violation of an outstanding extent at the premises of Asijské bistro Dragon II based on náměstí Svobody 10 in Brno. Due to the fact that hygiene and technical conditions at the premises failed to ensure safe preparation of meals without risk of a contamination, the inspectors closed the premises on the spot.

The reasons were, inter alia, as follows:

  • Extensive occurrence of dead and living insects (for example cockroaches) at the premises of the kitchen,
  • Kitchen equipment including stove, grill and fridges were covered with a strong layer of grease and impurities proving that cleaning was neglected in a long-term horizon,
  • Plastering was flaking off in a part of the premises due to water leaking through the ceiling and posed thus risk of contamination,
  • Floors were contaminated by grease, rests of food and wrapping material, dust and dead insects,
  • Items irrelevant to the subject of business, such as tools were stored at the premises together with foodstuffs.

The inspectors ordered the operator of the bistro (company T & H Bistro, s.r.o.) to remove all detected deficiencies, and CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine. The bistro will stay closed until repeated inspection confirms that the conditions at the premises comply with legislation requirements.
