CAFIA in cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic carried out an inspection of an illegal tofu production site in Brno – Tuřany, on Saidova street. The Authority immediately banned further use of these premises for food production.
The plant was set up in the property of a former agronomic facility which was not reconstructed in any way or adapted for food processing, so the appropriate approval decision was lacking, too.
The site was not kept clean and was in a bad state in general. The floors were crumbled away, and the bare walls were contamined by mildew. There was garbage and non-food-processing-related stuff accumulated in the premises.
The manufacturer was not able to provide documentary proof of raw material origin. He had not processed the HACCP system either, which is a systematic preventive approach to food safety, and implementation of which the European legislation obliges. The production site was not registered with CAFIA as a competent supervision authority as well.
As a consequence CAFIA banned further use of the inspected premises for food processing, for multiple violations of legalities.
A ban of circulation on the 40 kg soya product found at the location, which was prepared for expedition, has also been ordered.
Legal proceedings regarding the application of a fine for the inspected party are to be initiated.
