CAFIA banned the sale of another dried apricots from Turkey

During continuing inspections of dried apricots imported from Turkey, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) put further bans on their placing on the market. CAFIA inspectors found tiny white insects in this fruit, which the State Phytosanitary Administration identified as the dried fruit mite.

The Food Inspection Authority therefore ordered the company AHOLD Czech Republic to withdraw from sale  Dried Apricots Standard in a package of 300g, with best before dates of 15 May 2008 and 31 July 2008 (the supplier is the Slovakian company ENCINGER Bratislava) and Dried Apricots Selection 200g, with a best before date of 31 March 2009 (supplier:
K-Servis, Praha).

Jednota, consumer cooperative Nová Paka must not sell Dried Apricots “Dle gusta” in a package of 100g, with a best before date of 11 April 2008 (supplier: LTC Vysoké Mýto).

Jednota, consumer cooperative Hlinsko, was ordered to withdraw from sale Dried Apricots “Dle gusta” in a package of 100g, with best before dates of 28 May 2008, 24 May 2008, and 19 July 2008 (supplier: LTC Vysoké Mýto).

The company Spar Czech Public Corporation was ordered to withdraw from sale Dried Apricots in a package of 500g, with a best before date of 06/2008, batch L7165V153 (supplier: VOG Strančice).

Through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), the CAFIA today informed the European Commission of this case.
