CAFIA banned slimming preparation containing 20 times less vitamin compared to information on labelling
11/22/2019The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered company GOLDIM spol. s r.o. to immediately stop selling a non-compliant foodstuff offered as a food substitution for weight control under name Family In Diet with vanilla flavour packaged à 750 ml, lot L68 and best before date by 30. 11. 2019, producer: Goldim spol. s r. o., Michelská 18/12a, 140 00, Prague 4.
The producer indicated, inter alia, on the labelling that vitamin A was contained in amount 1,100 micrograms per 100 g of the foodstuff. However, the laboratory analysis confirmed presence of vitamin A amounting to 50 micrograms per 100 g only (this amount is the minimum value detectable by relevant laboratory method).
Information on the labelling misled consumers as regards the real content of vitamin A. The inspected person failed to comply with requirements laid down by European Regulation No. 1169/2011. From that reason CAFIA ordered the inspected person GOLDIM spol. s r.o. to stop selling the non-compliant lot in question and inform his customers. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
