The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority found bacteria listeria monocytogenes in an official sample of halibut smoked with cold smoke.
Namely, it is product with trade name “Výrobek z uzených ryb HALIBUT” (“Product made of smoked fish HALIBUT”), weight 113 g, lot 0707 PNT, date of production 7.7.2011, use by date 1.8.2011, producer Almar Sp. Z o.o., Kartuzy, Poland.
The product was sold by retail chain Kaufland. CAFIA banned its marketing and ordered its withdrawal. The dangerous food is now being withdrawn from shops to the distribution centre of the company.
CAFIA cooperates with the State Veterinary Administration in resolving this case.
With regard to the use by date, consumers still may have the product at home. CAFIA does not recommend its consumption in any case.
