CAFIA banned rotten meat products

The inspectors of the Czech Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found during inspections at the Billa retail store,  No. 34 Vlastina street, Prague-Ruzyne unsafe packaged meat products: giblets, poultry meat and pork meat. Inspected products showed typical signs of spoilage: unpleasant odour and change in colour, namely in chicken liver, which was gray in appearance and in advanced stage of deterioration. The expiry dates (indicated by the “Best before” wording) on the products were not exceeded.
Approximately 78 kg of meat products unsuitable for human consumption were banned from further circulation. The food business operator was also ordered to check assortment of packaged giblets, poultry meat and pork collar steaks on all its premises especially with the delivery date of 26th November 2011 and consequently take steps to withdraw unsuitable goods from circulation.
