Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) banned, due to Listeria monocytogenes detection, production and distribution of delicatessen at Zemědělské obchodní družstvo Ludmírov – cold meals manufacturing (Jesenec) and at Nové lahůdky Sixta (Ostrava-Kunčice).
Laboratory analyses at the former proved contamination of three products: Horácký salad (batch size: 130 g, use-by date: 20 July 2008); Aspiková miska (batch size: 128 g, use-by date: 21 July 2008); Vlašský salad (batch size: 150 g, use-by date: 21 July 2008). Detection in Nové lahůdky Sixta concerned Vlašský salad (batch size: 130 g, use-by date: 20 July 2008). The carried-out control revealed that the above mentioned products were not distributed to public catering facilities.
Both companies were ordered to withdraw the nonconforming products from distribution chain immediately and to carry out complete sanitisation of manufacturing premises. Production will be allowed only after health security of the manufactured food will have been proved. CAFIA advises consumers who have purchased these products not to eat it.
