CAFIA banned one batch of infant water Horský pramen

03/05/2010

Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority banned packaged infant water Horský pramen (packaging PET bottle 5 litres, best before date 02.08.2010) because laboratory analyses revealed presence of toluen in the above mentioned water. The measured amount of toluen is rather minute, e. g. 0,2 micrograms per litre, however, no foreign organic substances can occur in infant waters in detectable amount.

Immediately after acquainting with the laboratory results the CAFIA inspectors set out to carry out control at the producer of this water – company Jesenický pramen Nová Pláň a. s. based in Bruntál. There a ban was imposed on putting this batch into circulation and also the measure to withdraw it from the market was taken. With regard to seriousness of the finding also putting of other batches into circulation was suspended. Now the operator has to prove by means of laboratory analyses that the other batches are safe, only then CAFIA will allow their subsequent putting into circulation.
