On the basis of suspicion of the State Institute for Drug Control the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority carried out inspection aimed at the food supplement intended for enhancing potency called Intim-x produced in Slovakia. The inspectors took samples of the batch labelled LOT 0021208 with the date of minimum durability 12.2011 into laboratories to verify if it does not contain healing substances which are banned for foodstuffs.
In CAFIA laboratories it was found out that the sample contains hydroxyhomosildenafil and acetildenafil. These substances have a similar structure as sildenafil which is used in production of medicaments on medical prescription. Neither hydroxyhomosildenafil nor acetildenafil have been tested yet and therefore their exact effects on human organism are not known. Thus, they cannot be added to medicaments available on medical prescription, much less to over the counter food supplements. According to the assessment of the Ministry of Health of the CR the food supplement Intim-x containing these substances cannot be considered as safe.
Preparation Intim-x, sold in packages containing two pills, is imported to the CR by the company Krevní centrum s.r.o. from Frýdek-Místek which supplies it further to small customers, pharmacies and also to e-shop operators. CAFIA imposed a ban on putting into circulation of the above mentioned batch and ordered its withdrawal from the market.
