Every second inspection of imported fresh fruit and vegetables carried out in the border regions detected deficiencies. Within the inspection activity focused on observation of Decree No. 172/2015 Coll. on reporting of selected imported foodstuffs before arrival into the place of destination, inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) together with employees of the Customs Authorities of the Pardubice Region checked vehicles transporting the assortment in question.

Out of 6 inspections, in 3 cases the operator failed to comply with his obligation to report the goods by means of the on-line form available on the CAFIA website. The consignments were represented by c. 2,500 kg of potatoes, apples, pears and further sorts of fruit and vegetables.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the operators.
