As good as half of the cocoa content was missing in instant drink MalCao

CAFIA detected adulterated foodstuff MalCao in retail network. It is cocoa beverage packaged à 200 g with best before date by 7th April 2018, lot: 6144B, country of origin Poland, in the CR sold by:  Frape Foods, s.r.o., Kloboukova 1231/75, 148 00 Prague 4. CAFIA took the sample in Jednota, spotřební družstvo in Jindřichův Hradec. CAFIA ordered the seller to immediately withdraw the foodstuff from all its branches.

Based on the laboratory analysis, CAFIA determined that the cocoa content was 6.84% only, however, the producer indicated on the labelling: low-fat cocoa powder: 11%. Indicating misleading information on the cocoa powder content, the producer violated Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a sanction with the inspected persons.

In its press releases of 27th September 2016 and 25th Mai 2016, CAFIA also informed of non-compliant lots of cocoa.
