Antibiotics residue limits exceeded three times in Polish poultry

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (hereinafter CAFIA only) detected two or three times limits exceeding for antibiotics doxycycline residue in Chicken Legs Meat, without bones and skin, deeply frozen poultry, vacuum packaged, 600 g, producer: ALMA, Sp.z o.o., Poland. CAFIA during extraordinary inspection took samples for laboratory analysis of above mentioned products in the premises of JIP východočeská, a.s. based on Hradišťská 407, 53352 Pardubice – retail store Cash&Carry. Laboratory analysis found exceeding of maximum limit in two out of six samples with detected 243 and 315 micrograms per 1 kilogram. Maximum limit is set by legal provisions to 100 micrograms per 1 kilogram. Excess of limits violates Regulation (EC) 470/2009 for the establishment of residue limits of pharmacologically active substances in foodstuffs of animal origin on the market. Accompanying documentation of affected foodstuff identifies that supplier of JIP východočeská, a.s. is Pavel Vodička, Rožnov 23, 55101 Jaroměř 1.
Doxycycline is allowed antibiotics in food industry under condition of keeping proper amounts and respecting safety period before slaughter. Excess of limits is considered by the Inspection Authority as a violation of Regulation (EC) 178/2002 and such contaminated foodstuff is not regarded as safe. The Inspection Authority will launch an administrative sanction procedure.

Laboratory analysis has not detected banned pharmaceutics metrodinazol in tested samples. Notification on found results was sent to the European rapid alert system (RASFF).
