Another ban on production, the reason is listeria

03/15/2007

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) imposed ban on production in the premises of the company Maso West in Gorkého Street in Klatovy. The measure is applicable since Tuesday 13 March and applies to the entire delicatessen production and to confectionary product Pineapple dessert.

CAFIA took a decision on the ban after laboratory analyses had detected the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in four sorts of products. They were Potato salad and Prosecký salad (use by date 15 March), Garnished egg (use by date 10 March) and Pineapple dessert (use by date 8 March). The ban on production applies until the company Maso West provides demonstrable evidence that the production of food is safe.

CAFIA imposed ban on production in these premises already on 2 January and lifted it on 8 January (press releases of the Inspection Authority published on these websites informed on the ban and its lifting as well). After the detection of Listera monocytogenes in January, an administrative procedure has been initiated with the company Maso West and it has not been concluded by a legal decision yet.
