The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) obtained results of the laboratory analysis of foodstuffs in which the previous approximate analysis proved presence of non-declared horse meat. Subsequent quantitative analysis showed replacing beef with at least 60% of horse meat. Following products are concerned:
Nowaco Lasagne Bolognese – pasta in tomato sauce filled with meat – frozen, in packaging à 400 grams with best before date 24. 2. 2014, lot: 24/02/14 240/12 8:30, country of origin: Luxembourg,
Nowaco Lasagne Bolognese – pasta in tomato sauce filled with meat – frozen, in packaging à 400 grams with best before date 18. 10. 2013, lot: 18/10/13 111/12 17:03, country of origin: Luxembourg.
Samples of these foodstuffs have been taken by CAFIA on the basis of precautionary principle together with samples of several dozens of other foodstuffs since 11. 2. 2013. The products mentioned above were taken at premises of company Tesco Stores ČR a. s., Rokycanská 1385/130 in Plzeň, for details see CAFIA press release of 20. 2. 2013. An administrative proceeding will be initiated with both the operator and distributor as well.
