During continuing intensive inspections in retail network, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detects significant amount of non-compliant meat and milk products from abroad. Namely adulterated foodstuffs with misleading information on the labelling are concerned. Compared to the information on the labelling, these foodstuffs fail to contain dozens of percent of meat or milk fat (reduced amount of milk fat in the solid part of the milk product). In both cases deficiencies significantly modifying characteristics of the foodstuff are concerned.

CAFIA inspectors currently detected following lots of foodstuffs:

PIKOK CHORIZO CLASSIC, lot: 3368915, producer: A.SNC ZA de l´Hermet, 81380 Lescure d´Albigeois, country of origin: France. The producer indicated on the labelling: 100 g of sausage was made of 120 g of meat, however, laboratory analysis confirmed meat content amounting to 97.40% only (note: weight of ingredients in dried meat products is indicated before drying, that is why the weight of the total weight of the ingredients is higher than of the final product after drying). Information on the labelling was the misleading. CAFIA ordered company Lidl Česká republika v.o.s. to immediately withdraw the non-compliant lot from the market.

Milbona Cottage Cheese, lot:1601904, producer: Privatmolkerei Bechtel, Molkereistrase 5, D-92521 Schwarzenfeld, country of origin: Germany.  The producer indicated on the labelling: Fat in dry matter 20%, however, laboratory analysis confirmed fat content in the dry matter amounting to 18.1% only. CAFIA sampled the product in company Lidl Česká republika v.o.s.

With regard to the constantly unsatisfactory results of inspections of the given assortment, CAFIA will continue with inspections in the same intensity. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person. We have already informed of the cases of adulterated meat and milk products from abroad in our press releases of 5.8., 18. 7., 8. 7., 30. 6., 13. 6., 6. 6., 26. 5., 18. 5., etc.
