During inspections carried out at premises of PENNY MARKET, s.r.o. yesterday, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found out that the measure, which had been imposed on the company on 10 February 2012, was not fulfilled.
The chain was supposed to check and re-labelled goods labelled as “Czech Quality” which, according to the detection during previous inspections, in certain cases had not originated from the Czech Republic.
Random inspections of the premises showed that the headquarters had failed to inform the inspected premises on the imposed measure and misleadingly labelled products were thus stilled offered to consumers.
CAFIA therefore imposed new measure on Penny Market extending the deadline for re-labelling of the goods by one day. Non-fulfillment of the imposed obligation will mean serious violation of legislation by the food business operator and it will be taken into account in the subsequent administrative proceeding.
