Food Inspection Authority warns against using another food supplement for sportsmen

03/15/2006

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found prohibited anabolic steroids in another food supplement. The Inspection Authority established nandrolone, testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in MULTIPOWER MUSCLE PROFESSIONAL WHEY ULTRAFILTRATED WHEY PROTEIN (strawberry flavour, use-by date 26.03.2007). This product is imported to the Czech Republic from Germany (HALEKO Hanseatisches Lebensmittel Kontor GmbH&Co., Hamburg) by Prague company USAS, spol. s.r.o.

The importer was immediately banned from further distribution of this product and was ordered to recall it from all customers. Furthermore, the distributor must inform the Inspection Authority about the number of recalled units of this product and how the contaminated foodstuff will be handled.

The Inspection Authority warns all users of this preparation against its consumption. The distributor must not place the product on the market pending submission of verifiable documentation of safety of other lots.

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority sent notification on the contaminated food supplement for sportsmen to the European-wide Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
