CAFIA did not release imported black tea with four kinds of pesticides exceeding the permitted limit

In co-operation with the Customs Administration in Prague Ruzyně, inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) prevented entry of black tea with 4 pesticides exceeding the permitted limits. The inspectors sampled a consignment amounting to 90 kg in the customs area of the airport. Following consignment was concerned: Black tea, producer and supplier according to the accompanying documentation: VICONY TEAS CO. LTD., No. 7, Building 2, Huangshan Rd., Tunxi District, Huangshan, China, country of origin: China. Company Amana s.r.o., Husova 883, Černošice was then the recipient in the CR.

The analysis carried out by CAFIA showed that the sample taken from the consignment contained pesticides acetamiprid, chlorpyrifos, imidacloprid and isoprocarb exceeding the permitted limits, namely up to four times. CAFIA took immediate measure to prevent the entry of the consignment onto the internal market and consumers thus could not be exposed to that non-compliant goods.
