The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered company Kafuland Česká republika, v.o.s. to withdraw an adulterated foodstuff from the market network. Following product is concerned: “Benita Ketchup mild”, with best before date by 10th May 2018, seller: Kaufland Česká republika, v.o.s, made in Poland.
A laboratory analysis confirmed the content of tomatoes amounting to 70 g used during production of 100 g of ketchup compared to the information given by the producer on the labelling: “140 g of tomatoes were used to produce 100g of ketchup.” Consumers were thus misled as regards the content of the ingredient used for the production of the foodstuff, which was in half amount only compared to the information on the labelling.
CAFIA inspectors therefore ordered the seller to immediately withdraw the deficient lot of the foodstuff from all its branches in the Czech Republic.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
