In co-operation with the Customs Authorities of the CR, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detained a consignment of BOBA – flavoured cracking syrupy jelly balls for preparation of Bubble Tea.

The consignment of total weight of 3,456 kg consisted of 11 flavours of jelly balls contained, according to the information on the labelling, unauthorized substance konjac (E 425). Pursuant to legislation, this substance must not be contained in jelly confectionary products. Eating a foodstuff with konjac may cause serious health complications in particular to children.  

CAFIA therefore took a measure that prevented entering the consignment on the internal market and consumers thus thus not threatened.
