Dangerous soya milk for infants is not on the Czech market

11/11/2003

With reference to the investigating the case of infants death and disease occurred in Israel during these days, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) assure Czech consumers, that there is no reason for an alarm.

According to today´s information provided by the importer, the suspected soya milk marked as „kosher“ product from Germany, was not delivered to the Czech Republic at all.

As noted by the German producer Humana Milchunion, the soya milk determined exclusively for the Israeli market, was sold there as  „Säuglingsnahrung Remedia Super Soya 1 (dose)“. Currently, no product with such labelling has been put into circulation in the Czech Republic.

The products of the German Humana Milchunion company, which are now on the Czech market, have got valid „Approval of Ministry of Health of ČR of putting into circulation“ (so called HEM) and therefore they should meet health requirements. In the Czech Republic all foodstuffs determined for infants nutrition have strict regime, which means that without the above mentioned „HEM“ it is not possible  to put such foodstuff into circulation.

Despite the importer assurance CAFIA is  looking for further information concerning products of the aforementioned company and will inform about any results later on.
