CAFIA inspected milk products coming from Poland

06/02/2003

During March and April, different types of cheese, cottage cheese and yoghurt coming from Poland were subject to the inspections of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority. These aimed inspections arose from the monitoring results concerning the situation on the market with milk products. According to CAFIA information, the producers of products coming from Poland do not respect the requirements of the Czech legal provisions.

syry.jpg In total, CAFIA inspectors had inspected 322 milk products at retail level. These products were assessed from the point of view of their safety, quality and labelling. No microbiological contamination has been proved in either of the products analysed in laboratory. However, more than a half of inspected products (166 – 51%) were incorrectly labelled, and three products did not comply with the quality requirements.

Therefore, CAFIA imposed the measure needed for the removal of revealed irregularities. The products, which were incorrectly labelled, can be put into circulation only after the irregularities on the labels will have been removed, and in those three cases, where the quality requirements were not fulfilled, the administrative proceedings with the inspected subjects will be instituted.
