The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority carried out an in-depth inspection in the company SETUZA, a.s., in the past few days. The results of analyses did not confirm a suspicion that the company reprocess oils, intended for technical use, into alimentary fats.
Based on a suggestion of a former SETUZA employee, several thousands of rapeseed oil, which was identified after the last year floods as “potentially contaminated oil” and was included into the state material reserves, was to be added into edible oils. Nevertheless, the detailed CAFIA inspection did not confirm this suspicion. In conformity with the submitted documents and other evidence, majority of that oil was reprocessed into an industrial material for the production of bio-oil; the rest is to be reprocessed for the production of fatty acids for technical purposes.
The analyses of samples of edible fats manufactured in SETUZA did not prove either the contents of heavy metals or other contaminants exceeding the hygienic limit. Therefore, the consumer health has not been put at risk.
