An eight-member delegation of Georgian experts from different authorities of local state administration, responsible for food safety, visited the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority on Thursday 15 December. The delegation visited the Czech Republic to obtain information and gain experience regarding food safety control system because such a system is only being created in Georgia.

During day-long lectures prepared by the CAFIA experts, the members of the delegation were interested in specific experience gained from CAFIA inspection activities, in the functioning of Europe-wide Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed of which the CAFIA is the National Contact Point, and in the critical control points system (HACCP) in food industry. They were also very interested in current European and Czech legislation regarding food law; principles of CAFIA communication with the public attracted them too.

On Friday 16 December, the Georgian delegation visited the CAFIA Inspectorate in Prague, where they saw well-equipped specialized inspection laboratory.

The Georgian delegation visited the Food Inspection Authority within its week-long stay in the Czech Republic, organized by Centrum dohody s.r.o. in close cooperation with Czech food safety authorities. In addition to the CAFIA, the delegation also visited the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health and some other authorities.
