On its websites, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) released detailed information concerning wine labelling. Requirements on labelling of single wine categories, as it is laid down by EC legislation and the Act No. 321/2004 Coll. on vineyard cultivation and viniculture and amending some related acts (on vineyard cultivation and viniculture), are summarized in a transparent table. Summaries of compulsory, facultative, as well as proscribed data with detailed explanation are indicated in the table. Thus, producers (respectively distributors or sellers) could avoid incorrect labelling of wine which is put into circulation within the Czech Republic and another EU countries.
In the link „Wine“, web users find a number of series of another useful and continuously updated information concerning obligations of producers and wine importers, as well as all forms, Inspection Commission for wine assessment and classification, grapes verification or certification for export to the third countries. Information on arrangement of exhibitions, wine degustations, as well as sensory tests and a number of another data is also indicated here.
In this way, CAFIA tries to help primarily small and middle winemakers who thus find a compact set of information relating to the subject of their enterprise at one place. According to general director of CAFIA - Jakub Šebesta, on one side, support of knowledgeability and thereby the level of winemaker knowledge is one of the ways, how to lend a hand them, who want to do their business fairly and on the second side, how to reduce work of CAFIA inspectors. „Only the winemaker, who is familiar with legislation, respects his obligations and CAFIA need not waste its energy necessarily“.
