Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority Seized Non-Compliant Imported Food Products

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) has long observed a higher proportion of non-compliant food products among imported goods compared to domestic production. Accordingly, inspectors dedicate increased control efforts to this segment of the food market.

As part of recent inspections, SZPI detained three batches of imported food products found to be in violation of Czech and EU legislation. The affected products are as follows:

Edal Tea – Black Tea, Dense Leaf, batch: 307, best before: 02/2027, manufacturer: EDAL II Sp. z o.o., Źychów 41, 62-850 Lisków, Poland, country of origin: Vietnam. Analysis by an accredited laboratory confirmed the presence of three pesticide residues exceeding legal limits: Dinotefuran at 0.17 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg), Imidacloprid at 0.11 mg/kg (limit: 0.05 mg/kg), Tolfenpyrad at 0.17 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg). The sample was collected by inspectors at the Mere store – Torgretail CZ s.r.o., Za Pazdernou 2721, Písek 397 01.

Peelable Gummies – MIXED FRUIT SODA FLAVOR, batch: LOT: CKQ2410C02, date: NSX: 2024/10/25; HSD: 2025/10/24, manufacturer: not indicated, country of origin: China. Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of three undeclared synthetic colorants: Tartrazine (E102), Brilliant Blue FCF (E133), Allura Red AC (E129). The sample was collected at the OC Lucky store – DangChi s.r.o., Wolkerova 113/8, Bílina 418 01.

Mango PEELING Soft Candy, batch: LOT: CKQ2410C05, date: NSX: 2024/10/25; HSD: 2025/10/24, manufacturer: not indicated, country of origin: China. Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of two undeclared synthetic colorants: Tartrazine (E102), Sunset Yellow FCF (E110). The sample was collected at the OC Lucky store – DangChi s.r.o., Wolkerova 113/8, Bílina 418 01.

SZPI has prohibited the placing of the concerned batches on the market and will initiate administrative proceedings with the responsible entities to impose fines.
