The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) objects to the way in which TV Nova presented on Thursday 17 November 2005 in the TV news information about supposed rodent infestation of a Makro outlet in Čestlice.

This case, the CAFIA dealt with already on 2 November 2005, was not a serious breach of regulations and it did not threaten consumer health or his economic interests. The Makro company, which has been cooperating with the CAFIA in an exemplary manner for a long time, immediately implemented all measures connected with the above case. At present, the CAFIA has not identified any deficiencies in this regard.

Although the author of this report had been repeatedly informed by the CAFIA about these facts, the report, inadequately exaggerating the reality, was subsequently broadcasted on
17 November.
