Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority investigates a suspicion that unsafe packaged water is on the market

10/13/2005

On the basis of suggestions from consumers from several places of the Czech Republic, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) investigates a suspicion that unsafe flavoured spring water Aquila Aquabeauty with apple flavour (1.5 l, PET packaging) is on the market.

Several products of different production batches, provided to the CAFIA by consumers, showed signs of contamination, probably originating from the decomposition of organic substances. Contaminated products are characterized by unpleasant smell and repugnant taste and after consumption they can cause vomiting. A visible feature is precipitated particles of mucous nature.

The CAFIA has ordered the producer, which is Karlovarské minerální vody, a.s., to immediately withdraw the suspect waters from the market. Moreover, samples of the product have been taken and are being analysed in the CAFIA laboratory. At present, inspections continue also in shops.
