CAFIA warns consumers about baby food that may be contaminated

04/19/2026

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) warns consumers that deliberately contaminated baby food in jars of the brand HiPP may be present on the Czech market, based on reports from Austrian authorities

The case is already being investigated by criminal police officers in the South Moravian region. According to the information currently available, the level of risk is not considered high.

Nevertheless, CAFIA strongly recommends that all consumers exercise increased caution, especially by carefully checking the integrity of the packaging and the usual visual, smell, and, where appropriate, taste characteristics of the contents of the jars.

If a product has damaged packaging, an already opened or damaged lid, a missing safety seal (no typical “pop” sound upon first opening), or an unusual odor, CAFIA advises consumers not to consume the product under any circumstances, to separate it from other food, and to return it to the retailer.
