The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered company Lidl Česká republika v.o.s., to immediately withdraw from all its branches foodstuff Vemondo Goji – dried fruits of Chinese goji, packaged à 70g, lot L7195B. Company Noberasco, S.p.A, Carcere, Italy was then the supplier of the foodstuff in question.

CAFIA received a notification from the partner supervisory authority in Italy via the European Rapid Alert System RASFF. The notification contained information that the lot of goji concerned contained pesticide carbofuran in concentration amounting to 0.064 mg/kg. Carbofuran was used as a strong insecticide and it was banned by the EU due to its undesirable effects in 2008.

CAFIA ordered Lidl to immediately withdraw the deficient lot from the market and to inform consumers. CAFIA strongly warns all consumers who may have the lot at home that they do not eat it.
