On 18. March, the representatives of the National Agriculture University in Kiev and Ukrainian business company “Merci” supplying laboratories with technology and technical facilities, visited the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA).

Ukrainian delegation was above all interested in the policy of food safety in the Czech Republic, in the system of food inspection and in the technical facilities of CAFIA laboratories. In connection with radical changes of Ukrainian food safety policy, the University has been set with a task to set up a reference laboratory for food inspection. CAFIA laboratories should serve to the Kiev University as an inspiration for their establishing, equipment and accreditation.

Ukrainian visitors also visited the Authority´s specialized laboratory in Brno. There, in particular the “way” of a sample, from its reception to the review elaboration, appealed to them. They were extremely interested in the CAFIA Information System for Inspections and Laboratory Activities which is on-line connected with mobile offices of inspectors working in the field. This system has a link with Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed and is the first component of complex Information System, which is being established, of supervising authorities in the Czech Republic.

Ukrainian visitors were very generous with words of admiration and recognition, they appreciated high level of technical equipment as well as knowledges and helpfulness of our employees.
