CAFIA detected imported cauliflower with pesticides

Within targeted inspections of foreign substances in fresh fruit and vegetables, the inspection of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected a non-compliant lot of cauliflower in wholesale of company BOVYS, s.r.o., Dědová 40, 53901  Dědová (premises Štoky 516).

Following product was concerned: Fresh cauliflower supplied by Vegamix, Rudno Gorne 43, Wawrzeńczyce, country of origin Poland, at which CAFIA laboratory analysis confirmed presence of three pesticides exceeding the limits: (1) flonicamid – detected concentration was 0.15 miligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) while the limit is 0.03 mg/kg; (2.) methomyl – detected concentration was 0.029 mg/kg, the limit is 0.01 mg/kg; (3.) tebuconazole – detected concentration was 0.34 mg/kg while the limit is 0.05 mg/kg.

Detected facts show that the operator violated Regulation (EC) No. 396/2005 on maximum limits for pesticide residues in food and feed. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
