CAFIA detained consignment of dried figs with aflatoxins

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detained a consignment of 4,248 kg of dried figs originating from Turkey which were not released onto the CR internal market. The consignment was detained in co-operation with the Customs Authority for the Central-Bohemian Region.  

Laboratory analysis proved that maximum limits for aflatoxins B1 and sum of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 were exceeded at foodstuff “FÍKY sušené ovoce” (dried fruit figs).

Lot L17007, LotNr:090048474/2-11-798, of which importer into the CR was company Ing. Bohumil KRATOCHVÍL - IBK TRADE was concerned. Company Kirlioglu Tarimsal Urunler Gida Ins. San. Tic A.S. Prof. Muammem Aksoy Mah. Denizli CD No: 222, Nazilli, Aydin, Turkey was the producer of the dried fruits in question.

Aflatoxins belong into the group of mycotoxins occurring as a product of metabolism of moulds and they are regarded as carcinogenic.

CAFIA entered the information into the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
