Within inspections of foodstuffs imported from countries outside the EU, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected a non-compliant consignment of teas originating in China. The consignment detained in co-operation with the Customs Authorities Prague Ruzyně was not released into free circulation in the CR.

Out of 38.5 kg of tea delivered into the area of the Václav Havel Airport in Prague, 3 samples were taken into the laboratory, in which an analysis confirmed presence of various types of pesticides. Following products are concerned:

• White Tea Shou Mei – exceeding the limit for pesticides: dinotefuran (0.23 mg/kg, limit 0.01 mg/kg), imidacloprid (0.14 mg/kg, limit 0.05 mg/kg), lufenuron (0.20 mg/kg, limit 0.02 mg/kg), pyridaben (0.17 mg/kg, limit 0.05 mg/kg), tolfenpyrad (1.2 mg/kg, limit 0.01 mg/kg), and triazophos (0.13 mg/kg, limit 0.02 mg/kg).

• WAN GONG GU SHU PU'ER TEA – concentration of tolfenpyrad amounted to 0.049 mg/kg, while the maximum permitted limit is 0.01 mg/kg.

• Green Tea Xian Cha – pesticide dinotefuran was contained in amount of 0.022 mg/kg, while the maximum permitted limit is 0.01 mg/kg.

Company Guangzhou City Liwan District Longwan Wang Tea Line, China was the supplier of these teas into the CR. The consignment was not released onto the Czech market, its disposal was ordered and Czech consumers were thus protected.
