Within targeted inspections focused on quality and safety of food supplements, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) banned company PHARMOS, a.s., Ostrava from placing on the market non-compliant food supplement “Fytofontana AURECON Ring stop”, lot: 0421, best before date by: 16. 10. 2021, producer: Herb-pharma AG Schweiz, country of origin: Switzerland.

Information on the labelling included, inter alia, following facts: (1.) “Vitamin C – 178 mg/2 capsules”, however, CAFIA laboratory analysis confirmed amount lower than 1mg /2 capsules only; (2.) “vitamin B1 – 0.6 mg/2 capsules”, however, CAFIA laboratory analysis confirmed amount no higher than 0.0076 mg/2capsules only.

With regard to the abovementioned facts, the inspected person violated Regulation (EC) No. 1169/2011 on provision of information on foodstuffs to consumers. CAFIA inspectors therefore ordered immediate withdrawal of the lot in question from the market, and CAFIA will also initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine.
