The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered to withdraw following foodstuff from the market: Figs natural packaged à 500 grams, best before date by: 31 December 2018, lot: L17001, producer: Zdraví z přírody s.r.o., Chmelnická 194, 76001 Zlín, country of origin: Greece. Company IBK Trade s.r.o. brought the goods into the CR. The inspector took the sample at the premises of company Zdraví z přírody s.r.o. in Malotova street in Zlín.
Laboratory analysis carried out by CAFIA confirmed presence of aflatoxins (the total sum) amounting to 36,4 μg/kg (micrograms per kilogram) while the limit laid down by legislation is 10 μg/kg and presence of aflatoxins of B1 group amounting to 32,9 μg/kg compared to the limit laid down by legislation 6 μg/kg.
The total volume of the deficient lot of figs packaged at the premises of company Zdraví z přírody s.r.o. was 420 kg. Importer IBK Trade s.r.o. had imported 12 tons which were subsequently delivered to further customers.
With regard to the given facts, CAFIA inspectors ordered to immediately withdraw this and further lots of contaminated foodstuffs originating in the given consignment from the market network.
Aflatoxins occur as metabolites of moulds and they have negative impact on human health.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
