The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered company Kaufland Česká republika v.o.s to immediately withdraw from its retail network non-compliant foodstuff Madison – Biscuits with dark and milk chocolate chops and raisins packaged à 150 g with best before date by 12th March 2013, number of the lot: L3181111, country of origin: Poland without specification of the producer.
The analysis carried out by CAFIA proved presence of allergen - peanuts amounting to 2,670 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). The producer stated on the labelling that: “Product may contain traces of peanuts”. With regard to the fact that the detected concentration of peanuts was more than 100 times higher than the amount acceptable as “traces”, the foodstuff may pose significant health risk for persons suffering from allergy or intolerance to peanuts. CAFIA inspectors therefore ordered to withdraw the non-compliant lot from all branches of the seller as information “may contain traces of peanuts” is misleading for consumers in this case.
CAFIA further ordered company VIOLET KANGAROO s.r.o. to immediately withdraw from the market and to inform all its customers on non-compliant foodstuff ROSHEN, bubble bitter chocolate packaged à 85 g with best before date by 30th September 2019, number of the lot: 31st March 2018, country of origin: the Ukraine without specification of the producer.
The analysis carried out by CAFIA detected presence of allergen - milk protein amounting to 2,970 mg/kg. The producer failed to indicate the information on the allergen in question on the labelling and this foodstuffs is thus regarded as unsafe as it poses significant risk for persons suffering from allergy or intolerance to milk protein. CAFIA inspectors ordered to withdraw the non-compliant lot from all branches of the seller and its customers.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected persons and will continue with inspections in this segment.
