The total of 4878 unsatisfactory samples of foodstuffs and other products were found in the monitored period. Out of this number 3074 samples were collected from the foodstuffs produced in the Czech Republic and 1804 from the imported foodstuffs.

As regards the place of the inspection the unsatisfactory samples were found in the following facilities: 3629 in retail network, 945 in production, 283 in wholesale and 21 at other facilities.

As regards the type of analysis the following numbers of unsatisfactory samples of foodstuffs and other products were found:

  • inspection of microbiological standards - 933;
  • inspection of contaminants - 198;
  • inspection of labelling - 1584;
  • inspection of quality analytical requirements - 666;
  • inspection of quality sensory requirements - 1943.

As to individual commodities the highest numbers of unsatisfactory samples were found in fresh vegetables (923), fresh fruit (507), confectionery products - dough (435), wine (418), dairy products (359), meat - meat products (322), delicatessen products (262), and bakery products (227).
The above relatively high numbers of unsatisfactory samples within these commodities as compared to other commodities are caused by the fact that for various reasons these inspected commodities were checked more often than other commodities, and cannot be therefore taken as a prove of a generally higher share of unsatisfactory samples in the inspected commodities (i.e. “worse” inspection results) in comparison with other ones.
