9. CO-OPERATION WITH OTHER INSTITUTIONS
For the work of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority, co-operation with a whole range of authorities and institutions is important.
In the area of wine inspections, co-operation between the CAFIA and the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture, which is a supervisory body for viniculture, continued; the co-operation especially included mutual provision of information necessary to carry out inspections.
From the General Directorate of Customs, the CAFIA acquired particular information on imports, especially of wine and some other problematic foodstuffs, which were subsequently used for effective inspections.
As regards protection of intellectual property rights, in 2003, the CAFIA regularly participated in meetings of a workteam in compliance with a concluded “Agreement on Co-operation between Selected Authorities of State Administration in the Area of Intellectual Property”.
A stable co-operation of the CAFIA and authorities of public health protection (these are mainly health authorities of all levels) also continued, as well as with the Czech Commercial Inspection, the State Veterinary Administration and the Police of the CR. This co-operation also included mutual conveyance of incentives for inspections within the competency of each authority.
As in previous year, the CAFIA took part in a meeting with representatives of producers and tradesmen in the food industry in the framework of its preventative activity, which was organized by the Association of Commerce. Questions submitted by the participants of the meeting were discussed there and the most frequent shortcomings ascertained by the CAFIA in food inspections were also presented.
