Summary of deficiencies revealed in retail network

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority currently revealed further misleading practices in retail network. Namely facts such as intentionally extended use by dates originally given by the producer or providing misleading information on the shelf labels about the origin of foodstuffs or their composition were concerned.
In addition to that, the Inspection Authority revealed very serious case in shops of company Tesco Stores ČR, a. s. in Prague 9 and at Kafkova street in Olomouc and further in shop of company Billa spol. s. r. o. at Francouzská street in Plzeň. These shops offered adulterated processed cheese from Domažlice and processed cheese with ham from Domažlice made by company TABE Bezděkov s. r. o., Klatovy. Laboratory analysis repeatedly showed at several lots of samples taken in shops in 3 regions of the CR that milk fat had been substituted by unauthorised vegetable fat in the amount up to 74.5%. CAFIA handed the case to the SVS of the CR for further investigation.
Detected deficiencies will be subject of administrative procedure of CAFIA.

  • Label from the shop does not indicate wheat flour and thickener E1422; stabilizer E450 is indicated (the original labelling indicates E451), emulsifier E472C is further indicated (the original labelling indicates E471), content of salt in maximum amount of 2.8% is indicated (the original labelling indicates 3% max.), fat amounting to 26% max. is indicated (original labelling indicates 33% max).
