Meat-based product producers already do not hide the content of the beef meat

hovezi1.jpg Czech Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority have repeated control of labelling of the meat products which are offered for sale. Although public isn’t already interested in the potential danger of BSE, strict measures are constantly in force. Furthermore general obligation of each producer is to properly and truthfully label foodstuffs so that the consumer has a possibility to assure about the real composition of the product and if consumer wants, can avoid to consumption of the beef meat.

Then CAFIA inspectors took in the market chain total 22 samples of meat products, which didn’t have on the label beef meat in composition. All samples were put to analysis, which proved the real composition of each product.

The result is encouraging: only in one case – liver cheese - laboratory analysis proved a presence of beef muscle-meat, without its labelling by producer. Inspection Authority gave this case to the authorized workplace of State veterinary administration, in order to examine this directly at the producer.  Incorrectly labelled product isn't nowadays on the market.

hovezi2.jpg In comparison with last years, when CAFIA proved, that producers hide the presence of beef muscle-meat in the composition in some meat products much frequently (e. g. 2001 - from 65 samples were 9 falsely labelled), is this result positive. Producers probably react on high fines, which Inspection Authority imposed for falsely labelled meat products in last years.

Czech Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority will continue with controls of meat products in the market chain, this time primarily in connection with new decree, which after coming into force will lay down parts of meat in concrete products.
