Verification of grapes

Compared to the old Act No. 115/1995 Coll., there are two amendments:

  • Wines made from grapes with sugar content between 19 °NM and 21 °NM will not be named kabinett but kabinett wine,
  • There is a new type of attribute – selection of noble berries, which is wine made from grapes with sugar content not lower than 32 °NM.
Pursuant to the provision of Section 19 Para 3 of the Act, grapes for the production of wine with attribute – selection of berries and higher attributes have to be harvested manually, not mechanically – by combine harvesters.

Straw wine:

By amendment of Act No. 321/2004 Coll. by Act No. 256/2011 Coll., provision of Section 19 is completed with phrase: “If grape must contains no less than 32 °NM of sugar already after two months, pressing can be carried out”.
Grapes for the production of straw wine can be verified if these grapes, which were stored on straw or were hung in a ventilated area for at least 3 months before their processing, contain at least 27 °NM of sugar or if these grapes contain at least 32 °NM of sugar after two months of storing.

Ice wine:

Grapes for the production of ice wine can be verified if they were harvested during -7 °C and lower temperature, they remained frozen during the harvest and processing, and obtained must contained at least 27 °NM of sugar.
